Giving voice to every child — even when words don't come easily.
VOQUU is an assistive communication app for nonverbal children who express themselves through gestures, eye contact, and routines — not always with words. As a result, they often need tools that understand and reflect their unique way of communicating.
That’s why we designed VOQUU to meet them where they are — with simple, visual, and calming communication methods. Unlike many apps, it’s not overloaded with features or ads. Instead, it quietly bridges the space between silence and connection.
We believe technology should serve real people, especially those who can’t always speak for themselves. VOQUU wasn’t born from a single story. It came out of silence—from moments of frustration shared by parents, therapists, and teachers—and the invisible weight carried by children who navigate the world without words. We’re building something different—something that doesn’t compete for attention. An AAC tool that is quiet, adaptable, and designed to stay in the background so that children can come forward.
We’re deep in the weeds right now, testing, writing, rewriting, and arguing over colors that seem too harsh or fonts that feel like they shout. It’s messy.
Yes, we plan to open the code. Absolutely. But we also protect the code’s soul until we’re ready to hand it to others. Open source doesn’t have to mean chaos—not yet.
Also, as a sidenote, we applied to the Mobifree fund, which might help us keep going. We’re keeping our fingers crossed (and we’re nervous).
Roadmap
We're listening. Learning. Sketching ideas without rushing them into code. This phase is about understanding the children first, not the technology.
Blocks are coming together — thoughtfully. Some parts work already. Others still whisper. We're shaping VOQUU into something that feels natural, not artificial.
We're getting ready to let others in — carefully. When VOQUU speaks, it won't shout. But it will be heard.
We'll invite a few real hands, real eyes. Families. Educators. Not to test the product, but to see if it feels right.
The code opens up. Not all at once, not loudly — but with care. Contributions are welcome. So are questions, doubts, and stories.
VOQUU doesn't belong to one creator. It belongs to the mission. If it helps one child speak, we already want to live in that world.
Or sketch. Or translate. Or maybe you’ve just lived this, he long, foggy hallway of trying to understand a child who won’t (can’t?) say what they need.
If you’ve got time, or curiosity, or even just a hunch , we want to hear from you.
Servers cost. Good voices (TTS ones) aren’t always free. But more than donations, we want belief. If you’ve got both — we’re humbled.
It’s where we share what we’re learning, what others are teaching us, and how VOQUU fits into a wider conversation about communication, autism, and accessibility. You’ll find real stories, explanations of design choices, practical tips for families, and reflections from educators and therapists. It’s a space for thought, for guidance, and for those quietly building better tools.
